    Esports

    Organized, competitive video gaming played individually or in teams.

    Esports (electronic sports) refers to organized, competitive video gaming. Matches are played individually or in teams, governed by published rules, and often broadcast to live and online audiences. In an educational context, esports is used to develop teamwork, communication, strategic thinking, and digital literacy.

    Hybrid Modules

    Squid Academy's blended learning format combining online lessons and in-person instruction.

    Hybrid Modules are Squid Academy's signature curriculum format. Each module blends self-paced online learning delivered through the LMS with live, in-classroom or in-center instruction led by a trained teacher or coach. Hybrid Modules are designed for measurable learning outcomes and are accredited by Education Alliance Finland.

    Learning Management System (LMS)

    Software that delivers courses, tracks progress, and manages assessments and certificates.

    A Learning Management System (LMS) is a web application used by schools and training providers to deliver courses, manage students, track progress, run assessments, and issue certificates. Squid Academy's LMS is purpose-built for esports education and integrates with its tournament platform.

    Tournament Platform

    Software for running esports tournaments, leagues, and live events.

    A tournament platform is software that manages every stage of a competitive event: registration, seeding, brackets, scheduling, results capture, standings, and reporting. Squid Academy's tournament platform powers school competitions, regional leagues, and live finals.

    Mind Your Game

    Squid Academy's wellness and mental-performance curriculum for gamers.

    Mind Your Game is a wellness curriculum developed by Squid Academy that addresses the mental and physical health of gamers. Topics include focus and attention, sleep, screen-time balance, nutrition, emotional regulation, and performance psychology. It is suitable for schools, universities, and parents.

    Education Alliance Finland (EAF)

    Independent Finnish body that accredits educational solutions against learning-science criteria.

    Education Alliance Finland (EAF) is an independent accreditation body based in Finland. EAF evaluates educational products against pedagogical and learning-science criteria including learning goals, engagement, usability, and inclusivity. Squid Academy's curriculum is EAF accredited.

    EdTech Impact

    Independent platform that certifies EdTech products on educator-reported outcomes.

    EdTech Impact is an independent certification platform that evaluates education-technology products on educator-reported impact, value for money, child safety, and inclusivity. Squid Academy is EdTech Impact certified.

    K-12

    Education from kindergarten through grade 12, covering primary and secondary school.

    K-12 refers to the span of formal schooling from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Squid Academy's Schools curriculum is designed for K-12 students and aligned with national educational standards across its served regions.

    Esport Center

    A dedicated venue that trains, coaches, and competes in esports.

    An esport center is a physical venue equipped with gaming hardware, coaching staff, and structured programs for competitive players. Squid Academy provides curriculum and tournament tooling tailored to esport centers, supporting gameplay, coaching, and team development.

    Accreditation

    Independent verification that a curriculum meets defined educational standards.

    Accreditation is a formal, independent review confirming that a curriculum or institution meets defined quality standards. For EdTech, accreditation typically covers pedagogy, learning outcomes, safety, and accessibility. Squid Academy is accredited by Education Alliance Finland.

    League

    A season-long competition where teams accumulate results over a fixed schedule.

    A league is a competitive format in which participating teams play a fixed schedule over a season, accumulating wins and losses that determine standings. Leagues on Squid Academy's tournament platform support regular-season play, playoffs, and finals.

    Tournament

    A short-form competitive event using brackets or group stages to determine a winner.

    A tournament is a competitive event, usually short in duration, that uses brackets, group stages, or round-robin formats to determine a winner. Squid Academy runs official tournaments and provides software for partners to run their own.
